Day One(1) - Nature and Wildlife

8.00am – Start your Day

Start your day with a hearty meal of any restaurants downtown or delight in the best buffet spread in Sandakan at Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan.

9.00am - Leave for Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary

Known for its conservation initiatives and continous eco-tourism efforts, Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary Rehabilitation Centre is home to the endangered orang-utans and is Sandakan's must-visit-destination travellers abroad. A centre to rehabilitate the orphan orang-utans found in the wild, guests and tourist are welcomed to meet these jungle friends furing their feeding times. Stay for the video shows to learn more.

Feeding times are at 10.00am and 3.00pm.

Choose to continue with the Mangrove Forest Trail (located at the same place) for a 2 - 3 hours walk. Discover scenic streams and explore wildlife tracks through the Kabili Sepilok Forest.

11.00am - Leave for Borneon Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC)

Located right next to Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, it is usually the best for visitors to visit this centre right after Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, or vice versa. This centre offers potential release candidates to naturalise to their forest life, however, in some cases, the bears are too traumatised for release and have since been offered home at BSBCC. (BSBCC, 2015)

Meet these cute cuddly friendly sun bears, endemic to this part of the world and contribute to its conservatiion's efforts.

1.00pm - Leave to Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC)

The Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC)'s main purpose is for environmental education for students, teachers and now the public. It is located along the area of Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary and Borneon Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC). Get as close as possible to nature through its rainforest pathways.

3.00pm / 5.00pm - Leave to Sandakan Town/ Continue
